 Street theatre is a form of theatrical performance and presentation in outdoor public spaces without a specific paying audience.The logistics of doing street theatre necessitate simple costumes and props, and generally there is little or no amplification of sound, with actors depending on their natural vocal and physical ability. 


 Puppetry is known all over the world as an effective medium of communication. Many educational, developmental & communication agencies have successfully used puppetry to serve their purpose.


  Bauls constitute both a syncretic religious sect and a musical tradition. Bauls are a very heterogeneous group, with many sects, but their membership mainly consists of Vaishnava Hindus and Sufi Muslims.It is widely used as a medium of communication especially in rural Bengal by politician & development workers for disseminating their ideas.

 Chhau dance is a genre of Indian tribal martial dance which is popular in the Indian states of Orissa, Jharkhand and West Bengal.Some Chhau dances use large stylized masks. The depiction of birds and animals is a distinctive feature. There are also heroic dances with sword, bow or shield, with which dancers demonstrate their dexterity.



 Harikatha is a composite art form composed of story telling, poetry, music, drama, dance, and philosophy. Any Hindu religious theme may be the subject for the Harikatha. During its peak Harikatha was a popular medium of entertainment, which helped transmit cultural, educational and religious values to the masses.


 Jatra  is a popular folk-theatre form.The word `jatra' means journey or going. The survival of the form over such a vast period of rapidly changing social milieu, while catering to a heterogeneous audience, has been credited to its innate malleability and ways of adapting to changing social dynamics.



Lavaniis a genre of music popular in Maharashtra and southern Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.[1] Lavani is a combination of traditional song and dance, which particularly performed to the beats of Dholak, a percussion instrument. Lavani is noted for its powerful rhythm and erotic sentiment.
